Qualifications
Level 5 Diploma in Counselling
Degree Therapeutic Counselling
Level 4 Education and Training Certificate
Jo has been working in mental health for the past 5 years. Her journey started at Mind in
Bradford, working as a Wellbeing Practitioner within a mental health triage service alongside GP
surgeries in the Bradford district providing advice and support to service users struggling with
their mental health. She then moved into the Hearing Voices Team where Jo co-facilitated a
peer support group for people experiencing voice hearing. Jo has also worked in the Befriending
Team and was involved with supporting and training volunteers and as a Social Prescriber,
offering advice and support to service users.
Alongside this Jo trained and qualified as a Counsellor graduating from Leeds Beckett
University and continued her studies to gain her degree in Therapeutic Counselling also from
Leeds Beckett University. Jo runs her own counselling practice based in Halifax, seeing clients
face to face and online.
Jo also works as a mentor providing mental health support to university students, who are
struggling with mental health issues, alongside conditions such as ADHD and Autism.
Jo began delivering training in mental health in 2021 and wanted to create an
organisation that was person-centred in the way that it worked, putting the employee well-being
at the centre of what we do and helping companies and organisations to create a better working
environment and promote better mental health in it’s employees. To ensure Jo was training to
the best of her ability she qualified in Level 4 Training and Education. This certificate enables
her to teach people ages 16 and above.
Jo is passionate about helping people to become more empowered in dealing with their mental
health and wants to be part of creating a better mentality and acceptance around mental health,
especially in the workplace. Jo delivers most of our training and works in a very down to earth
way, valuing delegates opinion in the sessions and encouraging valuable discussions to
encourage learning. The sessions are interactive and delegates have the opportunity to say how
it is for them where they can feel safe and empowered to make positive changes.
